Free WeTransfer alternatives in 2026 — bigger files, longer links, no email

WeTransfer was the default way to send a big file for years. Its free tier still works, but it has tightened, and a lot of people only notice when a transfer is refused mid-deadline.

Here is what changed, and what to use instead depending on which limit is actually blocking you.

What WeTransfer's free tier gives you now

As of 2026 the free plan offers roughly:

3 GB per transfer (up from 2 GB after the 2024 ownership change)
3 days before the link expires (down from 7)
About 10 transfers per month
An email address required to send

None of that is unreasonable for a free product. It is simply a different deal than the one many people remember, and each of those three limits has a free way around it.

If the size is the problem

You need a host without a practical ceiling. Gofile, Filebin and send.cm all accept files well past 10 GB, with no account.

The trade-off is polish: WeTransfer's interface is nicer, and these are plainer services. If you are sending a 20 GB video project, that trade is easy to make.

If the 3-day expiry is the problem

Three days is short when a client opens their email on Monday. Alternatives that hold files longer:

WaifuVault — 512 MB, kept 30 days or more
kappa.lol — 100 MB, no stated expiry
Your own cloud storage — permanent, but requires an account

For anything under half a gigabyte, WaifuVault gives you ten times WeTransfer's window.

If the monthly quota is the problem

This is the limit that catches people out: hit ten transfers and you are blocked until the month rolls over, regardless of file size.

Services that do not meter you this way include Gofile, Filebin, kappa.lol and WaifuVault. None of them counts your transfers, because none of them has an account to count them against.

If needing an email is the problem

WeTransfer asks for your address and usually the recipient's. Every service listed above works without either — you upload, you get a link, you share it however you like.

That matters more than it sounds. It means you can share into a group chat, a forum post or a QR code, not just into someone's inbox.

The honest comparison
